The Greater Flamingo is the biggest living bird of its kind, and it is a beautiful sight to see. This beautiful bird, which is the
state bird of Gujarat, has mostly soft, pinkish-white feathers that make it stand out. But its true beauty comes out when it
flies, when its striking red wing coverts stand out against its jet-black primary and secondary flight feathers.

These highly adaptable wanderers do well in a wide range of harsh saltwater habitats. Huge, colourful flocks can be seen
painting the landscapes of huge salt and alkaline lakes, wide estuaries, shallow coastal lagoons, and big mudflats.

Greater Flamingos have a very unique way of finding food because they are specialised omnivores and expert filter
feeders. They mostly eat during the day, and they use their long, graceful legs and webbed feet to rhythmically stir up the
muddy waterbed. When the water is full of nutrients, they expertly sweep their curved bills upside down through the
shallow water to get their food right out of the water
